Jake Plummer, former quarterback for the Denver Broncos, is using CBD oil to help relieve the everyday pain he suffers from a decade long NFL career. He is just one of the ever-growing number of former professional athletes looking for safer ways to cope with the pain that their careers have levied on their bodies.
Plummer has joined a number of NFL players (both current and former) petitioning the NFL to take the research on CBD oil’s effectiveness for pain management into consideration. One argument is that many players are currently turning to strong painkillers, mainly opioids, which can be much more dangerous and addictive than CBD oil.
According to Plummer, “[Opioid painkillers] is a real problem for players…They may not be getting them in the locker room, but they can find those opioids everywhere, and they are terrible for you.”
Plummer feels if players require pain relief, they should be allowed to turn to a natural alternative.
