Are Greenhouses the Future of Marijuana Production?

November 17, 2014

Cannabis was first grown outdoors, but as this article explains, the War on Drugs led growers indoors.

In the 1980s,the indoor growing movement spread across the nation. “Indoor grown cannabis started getting a reputation for being better,” TRiQ Founder and CEO Matt Cohen explains. “The fact it is much harder to grow cannabis indoors has a lot to do with that. It takes more sophisticated equipment and systems—more attention to detail. You don’t have Mother Nature holding your hand.”

Debate between indoor and outgrown has always been intense. However, with marijuana laws changing across the country, many growers are beginning to find the greenhouses offer the best of both worlds.

Using greenhouses to grow cannabis, you have the benefits of Mother Nature, such as sunlight, which is superior to the artificial light of grow lamps; predator insects to keep the insect world in balance and fresh outdoor air pulled inside, and you get it all without the outdoor hazards like frost, rain and wind.

Greenhouses also allow the grower to adjust the amount of sunlight the plants get, which is helpful for growing strains in different times of the year.
