The Tricky Business of Hemp and CBD

Ever since the cannabinoid, CBD, was plucked out of obscurity for its life-changing ability to stop seizures, the cannabis world hasn’t been the same. Neither has the hemp world.

Hemp contains meager amounts of CBD, though that hasn’t stopped money hungry entrepreneurs from eking out what little there is of it in industrial hemp to sell as CBD extracts.

That might be fine except that vendors of CBD-infused hemp products have gotten in trouble with the Hemp Industries Association for misleading consumers by mislabeling their products as “hemp oil.” Hemp oil, as it turns out, is really hempseed oil, a cooking oil and food product. Hemp seeds have next to no CBD.

Even worse, a recent report by Project CBD, a non-profit educational service promoting CBD research, exposed incidents of contamination that resulted in a number of consumers becoming seriously ill after taking CBD-infused hemp products.

Read further here about why you should stay away from CBD extracts made from hemp.
